ABOUT CARPENTER DESIGNS
The business:
Carpenter Designs was established in 1997. We started out as a custom design and manufacturing workroom for home decorative items such as window treatments, small furniture, pillows and such.
I'm not talking just sewing here. We would get a concept from a decorator (sometimes we would get a drawing of a window and had to come up with our own concept) , get the measurements, sketch it out, get approval, make a final drawing, quote materials needed and cost, then figure out how we were going to make it and how it was going to be installed.
Today we are a graphic and web site design business. Not that far off from what we were doing. But we have a well rounded business, design and computer background. We have been involved , either personally or as employees, in businesses that do contracting, sub-contracting, retail, wholesale, as well as service businesses.
We use Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat, Golive, Production Studio & most of the Microsoft Office line, AutoCad and too many more to list.
This includes digital camera, video and scanner capabilities and broadband access to the internet.
And most of all, we're ready to help you!
The owner:
I have worked in various capacities for other companies over the years (secretarial, bookkeeping, managing), and a few of my own (retail, service & wholesale) businesses.
When Carpenter Designs started out, it was a workroom, in which we designed and manufactured custom window treatments and other home decor items. I already had roughly 7 years experience in this area, so it seemed a logical way to go.
I allowed myself two years to get the business up and running, and figured it would be a slow start. Well it hit the ground running in two months, and was a huge success from the start. My health directed me towards a new less physical venue.
Which brings us up to date with the NEW Carpenter Designs! I earned my dual certificate in Graphic and Web site Design, upgraded my computer and software and here we are!
